Shungite, otherwise known as Chingite or Schingite bears the same name as the Russian village from where it is extracted. To date, the small village of Shunga northwest of the Karelia region possesses the only known deposit of this natural mineral. Although its structure is quite similar to other rocks due its high carbon content, it is in fact formed from the mineralisation of plankton, with some deposits dating back millions of years at the very least. According to Russian legend, Peter the Great opened the first Russian thermal baths on Shungite Stone deposits. The Martsialnye Vody spa was used for more than three centuries to treat and relieve the sick. Recently, samples have detected the presence of fullerenes (a molecule partly made up of carbon) in these waters.
Until recently it was thought that two billion years ago no form of multicellular life existed. But some discoveries have since proved otherwise. Accordingly, hypotheses regarding the creation of Shunga rock have been formulated. Some argue that shungite stone formed in part through marine deposits of ancient primitive microorganisms. Still others believe that shungite is meteorite residue from the planet Phaeton (a hypothetical planet located between Mars and Jupiter that, at the time of its destruction, would have created our solar system’s astroid belt) where oxygen-breathing beings lived. Several researchers claim that the ore’s structure has the same characteristics as volcanic rocks. Regardless of its origin, shungite stone is second to none in today’s world, both in terms of its structure and healing abilities. Shungite heals, purifies, protects, regenerates and is even beneficial for soil enrichment (in Karelia, shungite stone’s region of origin, it has been noted that the greater the concentration of these natural rocks in the soil, the larger the potatoes). Shungite is not only beneficial for health, but it is also of unmatched beauty. Deep black and composed of either silver or ochre veins, it harmonises the environment in which you place it, and serves as beautiful decoration. Millions of people have already made use of this gift of nature by using it in potions and concoctions. It offers serenity and balance, blocking negative energy and purifying the energy which surrounds it.
At present, we still do not know of its exact composition and research is still underway to reveal it. Many therapists not only recognise its beneficial effects, but regularly use it in their healing practices. It is common knowledge in litho therapy to only use rocks whose characteristics have been established and verified over a long period of time. Its protective power has been established for several hundred years now. The famous Isaac Cathedral in St. Petersburg, built between 1801 and 1881, features an excellent example of shungite stone’s usage. Here, craftsmen created a shungite plinth of around 25 centimetres high. Research papers continue to come out in favour of this mineral, proving its beneficial impact on electromagnetic fields and geo-pathogenic zones. Shungite is effective against preventing electromagnetic radiation from cellular, wifi, television and any other electrical device’s waves.
You may find many rocks on the market that have the name of shungite that appear, at first glance, strikingly different. This is explained very simply by the different concentrations of fullerenes that the rocks are made up of. As such, here are the two most common shungite minerals:
Shunga ore has a powerful anchoring effect, allowing us to refocus our energies with the Earth. It aligns our energetic bodies and allows our chakras to function harmony again. Shungite stone’s numerous virtues effectively protect against all negative influences. Worn as a pendant, you can take its beneficial effects with you.
It is a rock that has been primarily used for healing purposes for several centuries. It has been attributed many characteristics of recovery, strengthening the energy metabolism of patients. It stimulates the circulation of bodily fluids and boosts energy. It powerfully harmonises the environment in which it is placed and neutralises harmful radiation on our body (microwave, cellular, wifi, etc.), repairing the damage caused. Wearing shungite stone as a pendant or in your pocket is the perfect way to protect yourself when at work or on public transport where electromagnetic waves are particularly present.
